Trademark Registration in Ranchi
Protect your brand name, logo or slogan with a registered trademark. We handle the search, filing, objections and every step until your certificate.
Own your brand, legally
A trademark is a word, name, logo, slogan, shape or sound that identifies your goods or services. Registering it gives you the exclusive right to use it in your classes across India and the legal power to stop others from using a confusingly similar mark.
Registration is done with the Trade Marks Registry. The mark is searched, filed, examined, advertised in the Trade Marks Journal for opposition, and then registered. We guide you through each stage, including replies to any objection and handling oppositions.
What you need to know before filing
- Any individual, proprietor, partnership, company, LLP, trust or society can apply
- The mark must be distinctive, and not generic, purely descriptive or deceptively similar to an existing mark
- You can apply even if you have not started using the mark, by declaring a proposed use
- The application is filed for specific classes of goods or services, with a separate fee per class
- Use ™ once you file, and ® only after the mark is registered
- Registration is valid for 10 years and can be renewed indefinitely

Common questions
What is the difference between ™ and ®?
™ shows you claim a mark, and you can use it from the day you file. ® can be used only after the mark is registered, and misuse can attract legal consequences.
How long does trademark registration take?
It varies. A clean application can take many months, while an objection or opposition adds time. We give you realistic estimates and track every step.
How many classes do I need?
One for each category of goods or services you offer. Government fees are charged per class, and we advise the right set for your business.
Can I register both my name and logo?
Yes. A word mark and a logo are separate marks, and registering both gives stronger protection. We advise which to prioritise.
Is the mark protected across India?
Yes. A registered trademark gives rights across India in the classes registered. Protection abroad needs separate filings.
What if someone else has a similar mark?
That is why we search first. If a similar mark exists, we advise whether to modify your mark, proceed with arguments or choose another.
This page is general guidance based on the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Trade Marks Rules, 2017 as we understand them. Government fees, forms, timelines and procedures change, and every case is different, so we confirm the latest position for your mark before we begin. We are not a law firm, and outcomes before the Registry cannot be guaranteed.
