Trademark Renewal in Ranchi

A trademark lasts 10 years from filing, then must be renewed. We track your dates, file the renewal on time and help restore marks that have lapsed.

Overview

Do not lose a valuable brand to a missed date

A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application and can be renewed again and again for further periods of 10 years. If renewal is missed, the mark can be removed from the register and you can lose your exclusive rights.

We check your registration dates, remind you in advance, prepare and file Form TM-R, and update the Registry with any changes. If the date has already passed, we help with late renewal within the grace period and with restoration, where it is still available.

Who needs it

When to renew

  • Marks approaching the end of their 10-year validity

FAQs

Common questions

When should I file for renewal?

Renewal can be filed up to six months before the expiry date. We recommend starting early so nothing is missed.

What if I miss the date?

There is a grace period after expiry in which a mark can be renewed with a surcharge. After that, the mark can be removed and restoration may be needed, which is more costly.

Do I need to show that I use the mark?

Renewal itself is a filing, but a registered mark not used for a long period can be challenged by others, so keep using it.

Can I renew a mark owned by someone else?

Only the registered owner or an authorised agent can file. If ownership has changed, the change should be recorded first or alongside.

Does renewal cost the same every time?

Government fees are set by the Trade Marks Rules and apply per class. We confirm the current amount before filing.

This page is general guidance based on the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Trade Marks Rules, 2017 as we understand them. Government fees, forms, timelines and procedures change, and every case is different, so we confirm the latest position for your mark before we begin. We are not a law firm, and outcomes before the Registry cannot be guaranteed.
