Gift Deed in Ranchi
Giving property to a family member or loved one? We draft a valid gift deed and guide you through registration, stamp duty and the tax points.
A gift that no one can challenge later
A gift deed transfers property or assets from one person (the donor) to another (the donee) voluntarily, without payment. For immovable property, the law requires the gift to be made through a registered deed signed by the donor and attested by at least two witnesses, and the donee must accept it.
A badly drafted or unregistered gift deed can be challenged later. We prepare the deed carefully, guide you on stamp duty and registration, and explain the tax points for donor and donee.

Common questions
Is a gift deed compulsory to register?
For immovable property, yes. It must be in writing, signed by the donor, attested by two witnesses and registered.
Can a gift be taken back?
Generally a completed gift cannot be revoked, except in limited cases agreed at the time or where the law permits. Think carefully before giving.
Is tax payable on gifts?
Gifts from specified relatives are generally not taxed in the hands of the receiver, while gifts from others above a limit may be. The rules were renumbered by the Income-tax Act, 2025, so we confirm the current position.
Is stamp duty lower for family?
In many states yes, for gifts to close relatives. We confirm the Jharkhand position for your case.
Gift deed or Will?
A gift deed transfers the property now. A Will takes effect after death. The right tool depends on your goals.
